Created as a not-for-profit organisation by Carla Steenkamp Sheills and Nikki Northover, the first Bridport Dance Festival launches in May 2025. It is a place ‘where everybody moves’ explained Carla.
The Festival hopes to unite diverse and inspiring dancers from Bridport Youth Dance & BYD alumni, My Ballet and more.
On Saturday, 24th May, there will be a performance of dance and film at the Electric Palace, reflecting and celebrating the individuality of the dancers. This will be a powerful merging of intergenerational talent.
The performance will feature solos by dancer and BDF guest artist Nafisah Baba. Nafisah won the prestigious BBC Young Dancer of the Year 2017 and later danced with Phoenix Dance Theatre.
